3. Requirements 

To ensure success, you will need extensive knowledge of marketing strategies and the ability to identify new business leads. Those looking for a career as a marketing manager should have a college degree and some considerable experience.

3.1- Education 

At least, you should have a Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business or a related field. A master's degree in business or marketing is preferred.

3.2- Experience 

Proven experience is significantly more important than formal education. Most marketing managers have at least five years of experience in marketing prior to achieving their current position.

It is preferable if you have experience in a similar industry. In addition, you should have experience supervising and managing a professional marketing staff.

The value of experience can't be overstated. This is often a work-your-way up position. Ideally, you'll have 10 years or more of progressively more responsible positions in marketing, preferably in a similar industry if not within your own firm. 3.3- Skills and Competencies

These are the most important skills and competencies that a marketing manager should have:

- Communication skills

- Leadership skills: ability to coordinate the efforts of a large team of diverse, creative employees in an environment of constant change

- Digital skills: being well versed in internet advertising and media

- Ability to see the big picture so you can provide useful advice and input across the company

- Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (Google Analytics, NetInsight, WebTrends)

- Experience in setting up and optimizing Google Adwords campaigns

- Numerically literate, comfortable working with numbers, making sense of metrics and processing figures with spreadsheets

- A sense of aesthetics 

- Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement

Role of Marketing Manager

Marketing manager is responsible for the planned and unplanned images of the company. Planned images may include print or video advertisements, public speaking engagements, endorsements, and printed literature. Unplanned images can appear when one of the company’s representatives misspeaks in public, or when the company is attacked by an outside force such as when someone tampers with the company’s products.

Ensuring that the company’s reputation survives since the unauthorized comments. Through carefully worded statements and advertisements, marketing managers will soothe the public's fear and outrage.

Marketing managers will work with marketing team members to determine the best and most creative ways to advertise the company’s products or services. They also negotiate the contracts for the various forms of advertising after forming a marketing budget.

Marketing managers have responsibilities to determine the marketability of a new product or service. They search new markets that may require the company’s products or services.
