Manila Water Company (MWCI) is a joint venture company of Ayala Corporation, United Utilities PLC of the United Kingdom and Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan. In 1997, Manila Water was granted exclusive rights to service the East Zone of Metro Manila as an agent/ contractor of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) under a 25-year Concession Agreement.
Manila Water is the water and waste water operator for the East Zone of Metro Manila, which spans about 541 square miles covers a population of approximately 5.9 million people in 23 cities and municipalities.
Manila Water Company is currently implementing the Performance-based Leakage Reduction and Management Service Contract with Saigon Water Corporation (SAWACO) in Ho Chi Minh City. This project is a 5-year World Bank Project and was awarded July 22, 2008.
The project aims to reduce Leakage for SAWACO of approximately 75,000 cubic meters per day. The project will also allow for Manila Water Company to establish approximately 119 DMAs.
This project serves as a springboard of Manila Water Company to other projects in Vietnam. Manila Water would like to offer its services to Cities and Municipalities in Vietnam that would need it’s more than 10-year experience in managing water and wastewater services in a developing country
